If you happen to plan a trip to Nagano or Niigata, do drop by FaaMiiLand (this is how it is pronounced in Japanese). This place is only accessible by car so go only if you are driving.
This is not just a goat farm, but one with a stunning view of the Joetsu region in Niigata.
During weekends, public holidays and summer holidays, visitors can experience activities like milking and feeding the goats.
The cafe at the top of the hill is also open only on these days where you can try their ice cream made from their own goats’ milk.
Otherwise on normal days, the activities are not available and the cafe is also closed.
However, the goats will be wandering outside and visitors are still welcome to walk around and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
There are also the good-old traditional swings for some simple fun, young and old alike.
There are a few routes into the farm.
Depending on the accuracy on your GPS, certain GPS may guide you on a much longer route.
When you are in the area, you may want to follow the signboard instead. It’s a big signboard which you will not miss. You may have to go through some small, winding roads.
There are also many grape farms nearby and you may pop by to buy some. Grape picking may not be available, but they do sell grapes.
Other nearby attractions include the Iwanohara Vineyard which produces one of the better wines in Japan.
They are open for visiting and wine tasting. (Check their website for more details)
